New at Newport Art Gallery (floor three in the museum and library building, John Frost Square): Inspired By… A collection of artworks from Coleg Gwent (Newport City Campus) Art and Design Department.
Art students were invited to visit the museum and art gallery and respond in creative ways to the collections on display. Many of the students also used the opportunity to reflect on Newport past and present.
When all the arts works were completed, Newport Museum was given the hard job of making a selection for an exhibition. This was a very difficult task, as only 50% of the art works could be selected to fit in the exhibition space. However, art works not short-listed are featured digitally on a viewing screen.
They are really inspirational pieces of work and show how much young talent Newport has to offer.

Ellie Tutton: “A Cow at the Wetlands”
Casey Stewart: “Transporter”
