I like these cold winter days…
The sharp northern light,
Blazing sunsets
and steely morning stars,
Creeping frosts
leaving sparkling webs.
Grounds covered
in patchwork leaves.
Folks hurrying home,
headlights and drizzle.
Flocks of birds,
chattering the way south.
Cold to the bone,
as the east wind blows,
Rain, sleet,
and the longing of snow.
